General Practice Medicine Columbia
Dr. Emily Young is a board-certified family medicine physician. She is from Richmond, VA and attended the University of Virginia (UVA) for her undergraduate education, where she received a full merit-based scholarship for her educational pursuits (Jefferson Scholarship). Dr. Young earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (MVC) in Richmond, VA, where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honors. She completed her family medicine residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), focusing on lifestyle and geriatric medicine. Throughout her medical training, Dr. Young’s passion for the health and well-being of her patients grew. She has tailored her practice of medicine to focus on wellness, lifestyle and addressing chronic illnesses brought on by obesity. When she’s not working, Dr. Young spends her time with her husband and three children James, Jonathan, and Cameron. She loves to travel, and her commitment to volunteering has taken her on relief missions to Cambodia, the Dominican Republic and Panama. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society, the American Geriatrics Society, the Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care, the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Practice.
