Alissa L. Wilson

Alissa L. Wilson is a criminal defense attorney focused on high-stakes firearms, self-defense, and federal criminal cases where early decisions, evidentiary challenges, and courtroom judgment shape outcomes. Her work includes defending clients facing homicide allegations, accidental firearm discharges, and complex gun prosecutions in both state and federal court. She has served on defense teams that secured judicial immunity from prosecution in a South Carolina murder case under the state’s self-defense framework following an extensive evidentiary hearing in which the court ruled the defendant could not be tried. She was also part of the defense team that obtained a Not Guilty verdict in a Lexington County involuntary manslaughter case involving the accidental discharge of a firearm. In federal court, Wilson has represented clients charged in firearms-related prosecutions and achieved substantial sentencing variances, significantly reducing potential prison exposure through disciplined mitigation strategy. In addition to firearms and self-defense matters, Wilson has represented clients in serious felony cases involving murder, criminal sexual conduct, burglary, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, bank robbery, and drug trafficking allegations. Her experience includes multiple Not Guilty jury verdicts in violent felony and sexual assault trials, dismissal of charges based on unlawful searches, successful post-conviction relief overturning prior convictions, and negotiated resolutions that avoided mandatory minimum sentences in cases carrying significant prison exposure.
